Technology ConsultingFor owners and founders making a technology decision and wanting an independent read.

Practical technology guidance for business owners making build-vs-buy, stack, vendor, or architecture decisions. No vendor partnerships, no affiliate kickbacks, no pretending every answer is the same.

What is technology consulting?

Technology consulting, done honestly, is a very specific service: an experienced engineer looks at the decision you are about to make and gives you an informed second opinion. That is it. No decks, no frameworks, no "digital transformation" language: just a read on whether what you are about to do is the right move.

Most small businesses do not need a consulting firm. They need one or two targeted conversations at key moments: before signing a major vendor contract, before handing off a software project, before inheriting a codebase through an acquisition. The cost of getting those decisions wrong is almost always larger than the cost of getting a second opinion.

Orayh Concepts runs technology consulting as a narrow, honest service. We do not resell SaaS products. We do not have kickback arrangements with cloud providers. If we think the right answer for you is to do nothing, we will tell you.

Who benefits from consulting?

The clearest wins from a short consulting engagement tend to look like this.

About to make a big vendor or platform decision

You are evaluating CRMs, ERPs, SaaS platforms, or custom-build options. The vendors you are talking to all say they are the right answer. You want someone without a vendor incentive to weigh in.

Inheriting a codebase or software system

An acquisition, a contractor handoff, or a departing technical co-founder has left you holding code you do not fully understand. You want a technical read on what you actually have.

Considering building something custom

Your team thinks you need to build custom software. You want an outside engineer to sanity-check whether it is really the right move before you spend three to six months committed.

How a consulting engagement works

  1. 1

    Scoping call

A free 30-minute call to understand the decision you are facing. If the right answer is obvious in 30 minutes, we will just tell you on the call: no engagement necessary.

  2. 2

    Written scope

If deeper work is warranted, we send a short written scope covering the question, the artifacts we need from you, and a fixed fee. Most consulting engagements fit inside one or two weeks.

  3. 3

    Research and review

We dig into the question: reading code, interviewing stakeholders, evaluating vendors, or whatever the scope calls for. You stay informed but do not need to be in every meeting.

  4. 4

    Written recommendation

You get a short, opinionated written recommendation with tradeoffs made explicit. Something you can read in 15 minutes and share with your team.

  5. 5

    Optional implementation

If the recommendation involves building something, we can implement it: or you can take it to another team. Both paths are fine.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most often about this service.

Hire a developer when you know what you want to build. Hire a consultant when you are not yet sure. A short consulting engagement often saves ten times its cost by preventing a wrong-direction build.
